Planting, Caroline

My inspiration comes both from the beauty of landscapes around me, and the complexities of painting faces and the figure.  I have worked in acrylic and watercolor, and am now painting solely in oil.   I have lived in New Mexico and am still inspired by the landscape there.  Since we moved from Arlington to Charlottesville, I have been enjoying the subtle beauty of the mountains and the rolling hills here.  Sometimes I draw inspiration from scenes, both interior and outside, that come from my imagination.  I particularly like working with line and color and studying how other artists have used these elements to express their feelings in their paintings.

While we lived in Arlington, I studied at the Torpedo Factory, exhibited paintings in the Touchstone Gallery and was a member of the Artists League.  Since moving here, I have participated in a residency at the Vermont Studio School, and have studied privately with Rick Weaver.  I have also studied with Phil Geiger at UVA.  My work has been shown at Bozart Gallery.  I am pleased and excited to be a new member of the Firnew Farm Artists Circle!
