Sue Linthicum has been photographing the surrounding countryside for many years. Her love of the country is very apparent in all of her art: photography, watercolor, oil, acrylics, and mixed media. She is an award winning photographer and her art has been accepted into juried shows. Sue won the Award of Excellence from the McGuffey Gallery in Charlottesville, VA, Purchase Award for a retirement community, and The People’s Choice Award in a watercolor exhibit at the Charlottesville Courthouse. Her paintings have been selected by the Culpeper Hospital and the Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community for their permanent collection.
After retiring from her position as a human resources director position in Washington, D.C., she moved to Culpeper, Virginia to enjoy and capture nature more fully in her art. Sue is a member of the Firnew Farm Artists’ Circle, Central Virginia Watercolor Guild, and the Virginia Watercolor Society. Her work has been published in the Washington Post newspaper in Washington, D.C., and the Virginian Piedmont Magazine. Also photographed a featured story for Home Magazine, Charlottesville, VA, including the cover. One of her photographs was selected for a published book cover. Her art has been juried and exhibited in galleries in Virginia: Orange, Culpeper, Fairfax, Charlottesville, Madison, Gordonsville, Sperryville, Stanardsville, Louisa, Montpelier, Woodberry School, Art in the Mill in Clarke County, Bath County, and the Firnew Farm Artists’ Circle shows. Her work has also been shown in establishments that showcase local artists’ work.
